SEA WALL 2022

Following a severe storm 'Barra', 7 Dec 2O21, the seawall at Laigh lsle was breached. Following investigation it was deemed that responsibility for this wall lies with lsle of Whithorn Leisure Limited.

A digger cleared away years of accumulated rocks, soil and debris. To undertake the repair the existing cages had to be exposed to ascertain damage. Approx 55 metre length of existing wall required repair or reinforcement. A secondary 1 metre high wall was built approx 6 inches from existing cages. The wall was built using breeze blocks which had steel rods were inserted into some of the breeze blocks. Each steel rod was then wire tied back to the existing cages. A polyethylene pipe was also inserted into the cages for drainage purposes. The 6 inch gap between the back wall and the main bank was backfilled with concrete. Grass areas were reseeded.

Cost: £9160.76, a special levy of £150 per chalet was agreed at the AGM PDF Click Here
