The comittee has contacted the council regarding a drain outside number 20 that requires attention as it is overflowing when it rains. Apparently drains are Scottish Water's problem and are usually cleaned when the rest of the village is done.
Correction 10.12.24
The diary entry for 18.01.23 re the grid clearing is incorrect. We found out that the grids i.e. driveway rain water drainage, are the responsibility of the council and as we are a private site we are not included in the schedule for public roads in the village.
The manhole covers and associated drains are the responsibility of Scottish Water.

The nearest yellow grit bin for use by Laigh Isle residents is situated at the Growing Space garden, opposite Laigh Isle entrance. Dumfries and Galloway Council grit roadways only. They do not have the resources (labour) to grit pavements so it is up to residents to locate their nearest bin and apply grit to their properties (driveway) and pavements.
