April - Community Orchard

We now have a community orchard near the entrance of the estate on communal estate land. Hopefully the Apple trees will survive and thrive and any fruit appearing in the next couple of years should be taken off, so the roots grow more.

Thankyou to the Galloway Apple Project for providing us with ten young apple trees. They write, 'the mother trees have all come from local gardens in Wigtown and Bladnoch, some of these original trees are now no longer, so we are saving biodiversity and creating new community orchards at the same time, the ten trees included a Galloway Pippin, Allington Pippin, John Downie, Bramley and five as yet unidentified heritage varieties.'

Front Row from end nearest chalet no3 are Bramley, Allington Pippin, Croft Right Wigtown, Unknown Wigtown, Galloway Pippin M25*

A O'Malley Insurance Confirmed

11.03 The removal of the roses near the compost bay has had the desired effect of allowing the daffodils to flower better and be seen. If anyone has any spare bulbs please consider planting them in this area and where the old bays used to be.
